How do I get my clown to go home

What type of clown?

Time is the best method. Sometimes it takes minutes, others it takes days, weeks, months....

it took my false percs 6 months. They would never swim by my rbta. As months passed they would swim closer and closer. then they started swiming so close to it the tenacles would touch them. and finaly they were in there 1 day. No they dont leave my rbta alone.

Something to try for nem hosting...

Something to try for nem hosting...

We have 2 tanks for clowns and when we gave them their anemones it seemed they did not care. We tried many things but finally figured out that they are hosting to "something" whether it be a corner, a coral, a rock, etc. To get them to pack up the house and move on you need to block whatever they are "hosting" now. It worked both times for us within a couple days. If they are happy and safe feeling where they are now they have no reason to move, imo.
Both our pairs were corner "hosters", so we put an acrylic box in the corner they always "hosted" to and bam! they moved into the nem!

Good Luck!

Let us know your progress and or success!

My Anemone keeps moving no matter what I do. I am worried about this. I even dug a hole. Last night he moved out of the hole and snug right up to my clam (maxima). Is this something I need to worry about? Can the anemone hurt my clam? The clam is three to four inches wide.

ocellaris? they do take a long time to actually host. I have had mines for about 3 weeks and the anemones has yet to host them.

what type of lighting? the LTA is just looking for a place that it likes. Eventually, it will settle down. I have a GBTA and it was wandered around since i have gotten it, about 3 weeks ago. I think that it has finally settled down though. I think that the clam should be ok. I have heard of someone who had a anemone touching the clam so i might be ok. you could always move the clam, unless it has attached itself. dont move the anemone though and be careful not to allow it to be sucked up into a powerhead.

How much flow do you have? They are sensitive to too flow when they are settling in. Did you acclimate it to your lights?

Right now I would be more concerned about getting the LTA to settle in as opposed to the clown hosting it.

yes, you should be concerned about the LTA settling down.

He makes the move when the lights are off at night. I dug a hole and he seemed to settel while the lights where on. I woke up this morning and he was on the other side of my tank.

Does it make sence he dioes most of his moving at night time??

I am worried about my new little friend.

mines moves even when the lights are on. he should be ok. but watch out for him, you dont want him to get sucked into a powerhead!

I just moved my LTA to another tank, but when I first got it I dug a little hole for it, it wouldn't stay put. I started to acclimate it to the lights -- using window screening -- and it dug its own hole and really didn't move for 8 months -- until I moved it on Saturday.

he can dig his own hole. when i had an LTA, i dug a hole for it and it stayed put. dig a hole all the way to the bottom of your tank, to the glass bottom. as far as hurting the clam part, I am not sure.
