How do I safely plug a bulkhead hole in 180??

I was wondering if using the MPT fittings for bulkheads are safe in the long run? I need to plug a 2in bulkhead and 3 3/4 inch bulkheads. I am just worried that the pressure could get to it and it might blow. Please let me know. I thought I had posted this earlier, but I do not see it. Thank you all.

You can see my white plug where I plugged min in this picture

what type of silicone do I use again? I know it's used for windows, but I cannot remember the name. Also, do I put the plug on the inside of the tank? Yours is on the outside I see. Thank you so much. =)

I don't know the name of it, I just get mine from HD. I sealed mine like that because that is where the threads were; thats the only reason. I would seal mine on the inside so nothing builds up in there. Good luck

Use GE Silicone 1 (100% silicone) or use DAP silicone that is Aquarium safe...it comes in a smaller tube at HD.

DO NOT USE GE SILICONE II.

Glad to find this info. I have a 60 gallon cube that was set up for closed loop and has 9 bulkhead openings. Talk about some serious flow! 7 are on the back wall and 2 on the floor of the tank. I'm going to close off 5 of the 7 on the back and use 2 for returns and close off the other two that are on the floor.

=) Thank you all. I just got the plugs today! WOOHOO. Now I was wondering, what besides krylon fusion can I paint the plugs black with? What is safe to go into the tank? TY.:dance:
