Are there any tricks you guys know about to taking decent tank pics with the iPhone? Is there an app that helps out? My tank is really bright and all the pics are washed out or super blue. I just want a picture that looks like what I see when I look at my tank. and I dont own or plan to own a DSLR anytime soon. Too much $$$$. Thanks for any suggestions.

Generally cameras are not able to automatically white balance an image shot under high temperature lighting such as is typically used on reef tanks. This is why pics of reef tanks and corals often look so blue.

The solution is to shoot in raw mode and to set the color temperature during post processing. One can also mess with custom white balances, but in my experience they are less accurate and more work. Unfortunately, cellphones and many point and shoot cameras are not capable of shooting in raw.
