HI!

I am going to do a 15 minuate freshwater dip for my future fish's.

When/how would i do this? After i get the fish quarintined? As soon as it gets to my house? WHen?

Here are the instructions i received for freshwater dip:

1) buffer the freshwater with a buffer
2) place fish in water and leave in for 5-15 minuates (15 for removel of velvet)

Sound ok? Need help... thanks

Seeing as I don't believe in freshwater dips even for treatment of an ailment let alone as a prophylactic I can't really advise you.

Why would you want to put possibly healthy fish through so much stress and risk?

I guess my answer to:

is

NEVER.

RM,
I understand the a FW dip can be effective in some ailments, such as flukes, but it is usually not effective on "Ich" as the cysts do a good job of protecting the parasite.

The Fish Disease Treatment forum would be a good place to ask. Bill and Frank know their diseases. I know for "Ich", hyposalinity or copper are the only known effective treatments and as far as I know copper is the only effective treatment for Amyloodinium.
