How do you all dose calcium?

I am looking at how I am going to maintain Calcium, Alk and Mag. in my new tank. There seems to be a few options. Which one do all use/ suggest? Why?

1. Consistent water changes with high quality salt
2. Calcium Reactors (with CO2 tank)
3. Calcium Reactors (with no tank - more like a PhosBan reactor)
4. 2 part dosing

Are there others?
 
2 part on one tank
Another has a ca reactor, ive never heard of a ca reactor without a co2 bottle. Also my ca rx has mag media in it as well.






How big is your tank? That matters. Water changes might be enough or enough for awhile till you get it stocked full.
 
Via aqua makes one that you just have to purchase the co2 separate. You can not melt the media without the co2.
Also stay away from the cheap brands when purchasing something like that. Get a nice one a korilian ca is good the 1502 would be plenty.


If I were you just water change and dose two part. Unless you have a super stocked sps tank.

I would also just dose 2 part. What exactly are you planning for your tank? On my 90 i will be stocking sps and a couple clams so i will prob buy a Ca reactor. Look around on here you can find good deals and then just go to a welding supply shop, they will let you rent a small bottle for cheap like per month. Mine lets me rent bottles for 8 bucks a month. If i return it within a month i dont get charged the rental fee.
 
Is there a specific brand of 2 part that is of higher quality than the rest? Or are they all just the same thing?
 
I am using 2 part with BRS dosers and Kalk for top off water. Currently dosing about 50ml of each (cal/alk) daily. Works like a charm. All I need to do is add a minute or two to my ac jr. every couple months.

I ordered 2 part last night from BRS. Why do you also include Kalk in your top off water?

No stores up here really. The local pet store has like a 55 show and wants to do more sw but there isn't much demand for it. I usually find myself in SD/OC once a month. I'm keeping SPS w/acans.

I used to do a CR, but it was to hard to get co2 from bishop in the winter and I never could get the darn thing to work right.

I'm used BRS 2 part, but I have been toying with the idea of doing a round of b-ionic to see if I notice any difference.
 
2-part with ESV B-ionic... seems to do the trick.

I've also used WM, but for some reason, my corals seem to react better (more PE and better colors, better growth from what I can tell) to ESV.

Or maybe my eyes are playing tricks on me... either way, I think they are essentially the same.
