How do you catch a tang in a 40 breeder?

I just bought a 3" sailfin tang to take care of some algae problems in my 40br but tonight I saw it has a few white spots. Im pretty sure this is ich and I want to get it out and get it in a QT tank. My problem is that I cant catch him. Hes too fast and he hides in the rocks. How can I catch him without taking all my rocks apart????

what else is in the tank? catching, or trying to catch him, would cause too much strees for him in my opinion. leave him be and he should overcome it.

I have a clown, flame hawk, a trio of green chromis and many corals in the tank. I had a yellow tang a couple months ago that had ich and died from it.

If one fish has ich they all have ich. The tank needs to have all of the fish taken out and put into QT. Leave the DT fallow for at least 8 weeks.

Thats true... but healthy fish usually wont show symptoms

Well I think it could have come from stress from moving all my rocks around. About two days after I got the tang, I took a few of my rocks out and srubbed off some hair algae them reaquascaped my tank. So Im guessing thats what caused the ich.

chilax guys he isnt going to keep the tang in there forever (i hope) and im assuming he has another tank to put it in after his GHA is gone.

The problem isn't only that there is a sailfin in a 40 gallon tank. The OP has already noted that they had a tang in here once before...and it got ich and died. Yet they are trying it again. (same result) The fish should have been QT'd BEFORE being put into the tank, not after it gets sick. QT is to prevent sickness. I also hope the fish is only in there temporarily, but may not even touch the gha. But I haven't noticed the OP mention a different tank for the fish to go to once the ich is gone.

I am not familair with the word "chilax" so I can't respond to that.

I will say that evidently you have knowledge of his plans that aren't mentioned in the original post.
