How do you clean the outside of the glass?

I use Safe & Easy on the outside glass on my tanks and it works ok but leaves streaks. Anyone use something better on their glass?

I just use vinegar in a spray bottle. Have it anyway for cleaning other parts of the aquarium and it works well on glass. It's a little harder to get it perfect but it is safe for the tank

THis is important: spray whatever-it-is on a lint-free cloth (old t-shirt is good) in another room and bring to the tank, being careful never to have so much it drips. Dry as you go. Ammonia and other additives in the glass cleaner can have a bad effect from the fumes, and (if you had one tank design I had--) if it drips into the sump.

That said, I clean my glass with Sprayway (hardware store or Costco, Amazon, etc) which contains a petroleum distillate---probably gasoline. I'm careful with it. Very. But there's no better glass cleaner. We pack some in the car for trips south, where bug juice dries on windshields like lacquer: cuts right through it to sparkling clean.

vinegar mixed with RO and newspaper. But most of the time i dont even bother with the RO/vinegar spray. The newspaper polishes the glass a treat and the amount of unread newspapers i receive through my door keeps my in constant supply.

I use "Invisible Glass". Alcohol based aerosol.

I'm a rebel, I suppose - I spray it directly on the glass at a downward angle, and sparingly, then wipe it off with a paper towel. Before I discovered Invisible Glass, I used plain old Windex and did it the very same way.

I've been using those pre packaged windex wipes so I dont have to spray anything. Just pull one out and clean

Usually just some rodi water from my topoff and a clean paper towel. That's what my fancy office switched to for environmental reasons. Works like a charm. If I have company coming I might windex just cause I'm old school but I do spray away from the tank. I wouldn't worry about ammonia from the windex, since my tank is pro at processing that, but I am concerned about other stuff they might add like surfactants or something else to keep fingerprints from showing so the glass looks clean longer etc. I saw a bad thread where a tank crashed from having febreeze sprayed near it and everything died. Turns out the febreeze had an antibacterial element in it to prevent future smells too, and it only took a little bit.

i make my own by mixing distilled water and rubbing alcohol. 50/50. Best ever.

i just use a paper towels or micro fiber cloths. one with water, one to dry.
I try not to use any chemicals.

I actually rainex my aquarium glass about once every 3 months or so. Does wonders for keeping it clean with very little maintenance. Most of the drips you get on the glass just fall off, so there's much less mess to clean up every day. Plus, the salt from drips, and smears simply wipe off with my T-shirt. Keeps the glass looking about 95-98% all the time. If I really want it to sparkle, I'll wipe it with a lightly sprayed paper towel with Windex or rubbing alcohol.

I use the exact same stuff, and the same application. Straight on the glass in a downward angle. Used Windex in the same fashion before that. Never had an issue.
