How do you clean you overflow?

I have aptasia and mushrooms growing out of my overflow. Does anyone have any good suggestions for cleaning my overflow?

Just a thought. You could unhook the both lines, remove sump & fill carefully with straight vinager & let soak for a few hours. Then remove a bulkhead & drain into a 5 gallon bucket.

Actually I wonder if straight RO water would also do the trick?

I'd close it off and fill it with saturated Kalk. Either that or vinegar as above. Not sure which would work better.

This is my main tank overflow. It has a small chamber on the outside of the overflow which has slits in it. The slits and the thin chamber are what I would like to clean so I keep proper flow in my tank. I have a 90g RR tank with 4 power heads on a variable timer. I guess this may be overkill but I would like to put a bigger return pump on my sump and want to be sure I get enough flow through my overflow

Good Luck!!! i use a long scrub brush to wipe down the walls with everything. than suck up all the stuff in the overflow. i can not keep them grills cleaned for the life of me. just the top grills seem to work ok for me.

For the thin chamber in the Megaflow, I use a wire coat hanger while the tank is running. I push it down to the bottom and move it back and forth to do the best I can with it. It seems to work out ok.

I've recently thought about making an acrylic cover for mine. Give it a 1/2" overhang & paint it black. I think it may help as most stuff needs light to grow.

Any thoughts on this??

It was suggested to me to think of it as a fuge, takes up phos to fuel itself before the water even hits the sump. I would try to get rid of the aptasia, though.
