I am considering going all t5 over my 180. Currently I have 3 25 W Radiums with 4 80 W ATI t5. (Blue + and Coral +). I would use 8 ATI t5's - not sure of the color mix.

How would growth and color be impacted. Pros and cons?

Thanks for your help and please answer the poll quetion

I don't have a whole lot of experience with MH, but I do have an 8 bulb ATI PM and get great growth and color out of my corals. I did add a ReefBrite strip to it to get more color out of my coral.

I'm running 5 gen1 radions on my 300 gallon. I get great growth and color from all my sps
Here are a few pics with date stamps to show the growth from radion LEDs

I run a 4ft Cebu sun over my 6ft tank. It works really well in the middle and I can grow low light stuff on the edge. I'm going to be building a canopy in the next few weeks and will be adding another 4 t5s (4x39watt) to get full tank coverage and no more shadows.

It might be too early to make a conclusion, but i find it interesting that MH only has the lowest response (4% at this point). It used to be the be all and end all of SPS lighting.

Hqi (150w)+ t5 (4x39w)+ led (Radion pro) in 92 gallons.

And I think it still is but reasons like yours, heat and cost, make people want an alternative. If I had the funds to support a chiller, I would definitely be running MH

Using 250watt radiums 20k x 2. One ecotech xr30pro led in center and two xr15pro for sides. The color combo of both radiums and ecotech is amazing. Looks like a zeovit tank without zeovit

I have thought about a chiller, but it would run in my sump room and the heat would increase the heat in the room thereby increasing the heat of the water in the sump. What it comes down to is you need to have a way to get rid of the heat from the chiller.

I voted all T5, that's what I use now. I previously used Mitras LEDS and while I was able to get great colors and I mean really great, I just couldn't find the sweet spot to get much growth. Since switching to T5 my growth has exploded and my colors are good.....not as good as I had but nothing to complain about. I loved the pure crystal clear light LED throws, nothing can compare. I just wish I could have found the right mix with LEDs. I know it can be done, I just failed at it.

If I were to start from scratch it would be a T5/LED hybrid. IMHO, as things are right now it's the ultimate setup for SPS.

Agreed! Kessil+T5

Well that's a little misleading. Most MH users ran MH with VHO supplements. Now, most run theirs with T5 or LED supplement.t hat accounts for 24%.

Almost 1/3rd of the poll still uses MH.
