I want to put a mandarin in my reef which is big enough, mature, enough liverock etc but I had cryp a few months ago which is long gone. I want to add a mandarin and am wondering how to qt it or should I not?.
It can be done but you will want to order some reef pods to make sure it gets plenty to eat. Otherwise it will probably starve. Wouldn't hurt to order some to add to your DT as well.
I've done it twice. It's a lot of work but it worth it. Although a mandarin is ich resistant they can get it. You could do TT and feed with bottled pods. Or you could just observe. I put mine in a QT with LR, chaeto and supplemented with pods. I also trained him to eat mysis and caviar while in the QT. He now hits the turkey baster when I feed.

It's good to wean a mandarin before putting into dt so when I get one I will qt tank and feed it live then move it over to frozen prior to moving to dt and qt it at the same time☺
