How hard a shipper is a BTA ?

The reason I ask ...I ordered 1 through Live Aquaria which arrived Dead or in the process of (which I'm not condemning them for, and they stick by their Live Arrival guarantee. I then ordered a 2nd which arrived the same way. I then decided to try a semi-LFS who ordered 1 which I just drove an hour and 15 minutes to go see to find it deteriating in the same manner. It just seems like it isn't in my cards to have one.

They often look like crap after shipping. All shriveled up and usually expelling something from the mouth. Hope it snaps back for you, good luck

lol

poor live aquaria how many things show up deflated and they are forced to send another and eat the cost twice.

LOL can't agreed more :) anemones look like shoot after shipping in most cases, cant even be sure if they are goner unless they are flipped inside out.

Try vividaquariums. I just got a RBTA from there that looked pretty good even when I opened the box. It took a couple days to settle into the tank and come out from under a rock, but so far it's looking great.

I wouldn't call it deflated...the bag it came in was filled with white strands and the water was so cloudy you couldn't see in it. When examined closer it was deteriated quite badly with the mouth torn and gaping to 90% of it's whole size with no tips at all. Just because I've never had one...doesn't mean I haven't read up on them and have atleast an inkling of what they may look like stressed out....I'm not an idiot

actually I was talking to this LFS/importer, he told me that out of the 10 RBTA he ordered, 9 flipped inside out and last 1 was deflated and looked very bad. Seems like it's common that they aren't shipped too well.

Just curious, Fullpull, did they ship dry (i.e. without water or very little water) or ship with water?

Plenty of water...most I've ever had anything shipped in, but the weather was really warm..low 90's....I tracked it on the internet...it was hauled around on the truck which delivered it 8 hrs the first time, and 6 the 2nd time. The cool pack was barely cool at all, never thought of checking the water temp in the bag...just slowly acclimated to mine.

Thanks Fullpull for the info.

I remembered last year when talking to Anthony Calfo, he recommended to ship 'dry'. But assuming that the temperature does nto fluctucuate too mcuh. low 90s... is scary.
