How long can an Achillies go without eating?

I picked up an Achillies tang last Wednesday and he's about 6.5-7" and pretty fat. The store owner said that he was eating nori, pellets and meaty food but when i was at the store it was just hidding and not eating in front of me (i know a sign that i should not take this fish) but the deal was too good to pass up and I've been looking for a show size Achillies for a while. My main DT is considered my QT tank as I run copper at theraputic levels in it continuously along with using Prazi for new arrivals. Dosed prazi for him and did a 50% water change on 3rd day. Initially the fish was just staying in one place under my overflow, that lasted for 2-3 days. He now swims everywhere in the tank and acts normal otherwise but he still does not eat anything. Yesterday he seemed like he has started to get interested in food but its like he doesn't know what to do with it when it goes by him. I've tried every food i could think of and have also tried using garlic as well. How long can he go like this and when should i start getting concerned? There are 15 other fish in the tank all fat and happy and eating like pigs and they do not bother him. Thanks for reading!

I'd assume it's settling in. My first Achilles took about a week to eat and then it only ate nori. If it's fat, it has enough to keep it going until it feels hungry. Good luck

I think you're right, its a good sign at least that it is more curious now and swimming around vs initially. Hopefully he comes around soon.

Don't know how true it is, but I have heard some Angels and Tangs are sensitive to Cooper. I have no experience with that as I don't use Cooper. I would just keep an eye on him. Also I didn't know you could mix cooper and Prazi-Pro together. Learned something new today.

Yes you could definitely mix both of those with no issues. I've got 4 angels in there and no issues with copper, tangs as well and they all eat like pigs, i guess the Achillies is the exception to all but i know others have used copper on Achillies before with no issues.

An AT at a healthy weight can go a few weeks without eating. Mine didn't eat a thing for over two weeks, and then only brine. Was easily four months before it finally ate something else. Now, 2 1/2 years later it eats everything.

Thanks for your comments, this is encouraging.
