How long can Blue Carpet goes without feeding?

Hi

I got my Blue carpet Anemone, and it has never take any thing I gave. It's not doing well. can it goes without solid food? if so, for how long?

Thanks

To add....

If it is a Haddoni (( I don't have any personal experience with Gigs )), a healthy one could go months between feedings. I only feed mine once every 3-4 weeks.

However, the fact that yours won't take any food isn't a good sign.

gigantea or haddoni...how long have you had it?

I have it for about two weeks now. I got it from vivid aquarium, and they advertised it as stich...haddoni.

^ +1 what are your water paramaters and lighting?
I tested my tank water last week and every thing looks within normal range. I also make 10 Gs water change two days ago, although, my pH have been in the low ~7.8-7.9. I try to bring it up to 8.1 and it has been - 8.0-8.1.

as for my light, I have T5 x6. every time the daylight are on, the Anemone would try to hide from the light, but seems to open up during the Dust/Dawn hours.

the mouth was wide open sometime, and mostly deflated.

currently, it has detached itself from the rock and went to the back and not attaching to anything, sometime upside down.

I will try to have only the 2Xt5 light D/D light on and see what happen.

I would suggest acclimating it to your lights by using window screening. I always use 3 layers, with removing a layer each 5-7 days.

Is it sticky? What does the mouth look like? Is it tight, gaping, loose? have you tried mysis on its mouth with the pumps off? Do you have any pics?

Yes, it's still sticky.
as for the mouth, last several days, it looks between tight and gaping. however, since it has moved to the back of the tank and deflated, I can't see the mouth.

there is also a maroon clownfish hosting it, and it too trying to revived the Blue carpet.

Q. Should I move it to the front and try feeding it with mysis?

I'll try to take picture tomorrow.

I hope I can revive it, this is by far my most expensive investment of live stock. It would be really suck to loose it.

A pic would be helpful, while "carpets" have somewhat similar care, there are important differences b/t the two common ones -- Haddoni and Gig.

For right now, I wouldn't move it -- would just cause more stress.

How big is that clown and how big is the anemone? The clown could actually be causing more harm then good at this point.

the clown is too big for the carpet right know. It will kill it if you do not cover it with a plastic bowl with holes in it until it acclimates. :uzi:

is that buried in the sand?i have a blue carpet and i havent seen it ate since i got it and its been a month now...though its not shrunk or deflated...

its good to know that a healthy one can go months without feeding but whats causing it to not accept food?

You have a Gig. In that last picture, the off white part is the "top", there should be some tentacles there.

If the clown is kicking sand on it, I would try to remove the clown. If that isn't possible do something to keep it away from it.

That is a upside down S. gigantea. The column is blue with blue spots. It is not dead yet but I do not thing it will last much longer. Sorry.

Ok, my Blue Carpet still alive. it has moved slightly to the left, and hide even more between the rock. I think its trying to get away from the clownfish and it's away from the new light.

I will try to remove the clown and slowly increase the light.

BTW, what's the different between Stich..carpet vs S. gigantea carpet?
