How long can gobies hide for?

I havent seen mine in about 2 days, now I havent been home all day but he is usally out all day, and almost always for dinner. I did a water change yesterday and added sand, could that maybe have spooked him? All other fish are fine and healthy. Makes me worry .

what type of goby is it? some a very timid others are not. how long has it been in the tank?

It a hi fin red banded goby. It has been in this tank for 1and 1/2 month, but so have all the other fish becuase I upgraded. He was in my old 29 for about 7 months.

humm i would think he would be out. but they do tend to hide for about a week when first added to a new tank. has your ph been stable?

It will hide as long as they want to.

Its like that question I once asked my dad..."Where does a bear go to the bathroom?" He replied, "Wherever he wants to.."

Things in our aquarium can only be influence to do things. They choose to do those things if they feel like it.

As for your gobie, he could starve to death without food because it will not come out of hiding. I would try to feed just a little at night or early in the morning without lights off.

I had a gobie who did this.

I had a Priolepis nocturna that made an appearance once every nine months or so.

Didnt see him at all today either. The weird thing is, is that he is aways out, even if it is just his head peaking out, he would be out. The only thing that I can imagine would be that I scrared the crap out of him when I was cleaning the glass by his home.

I have a female stonogobiops that took to a cave and deserted her mate for a yellow watchman, poor guys, the one doesn't want her and the other can't get her back...it took me 2 weeks to notice her tail coming out from under the rock, and another week to coax her out with Cyclopeeze, while her mate pigs out in the open. She's finally, 4th week, taken to coming frontside to eat, then goes back.

Well he came out today, after alittle bit of food he poped his head out. And Im actually happy becuase now you can see him from the front of the tank cuase he changed holes. Thanks for the help, Im happy hes ok!

A pair of firefish gobies of mine were missing for 6 weeks! I presumed they were dead and looked around the tank incase they had jumped or presumed their bones were being picked clean by hermits. After 6 weeks they appeared again looking a little skinny bot otherwise ok.
