I am getting ready to upgrade from VHO to 250 watt MH, 14000K or 20000K. There will be two bulbs since I have a center brace and can't put just one over the center. Water surface to substrate is 22 inches. Bulbs will be 7 inches off the water. I was thinking that I would run them about 8 hours each day with VHO actinics 2 hours before and 2 hours after the MH. Will that really raise my electric bill a whole lot?

Wow, I guess I might be overdoing it.

I ran my MH 11 hs/ day, and actinics around 12-13.

my tank's temp fluctuates between 82-84 always, never higher, never lower. One of the fans on the actinics is busted so when I fix that, it might only go as high as 83ish.

(2) 250 W MH's for 9 hrs/day & (2) 110W Actinics for 10 hours/day. The actinics come on at 12:30PM, the MH's come on at 1:00PM, then the MH's go off at 10:00PM and the actinics go off at 10:30PM.
