how long does it take 1 ricordea to make a nice colony?

are they like normal shrooms spreading really fast? i have CF lights, should i put them high or low for maximum speed of growing? low flow?

they acutally dont grow THAT fast compared to discoma mushrooms =/ unforunately. itd be better to find ricordea that have multiple mouths already and those will split into two or more within a few months with heavy feeding.

yeah, their pretty slow. I got one rock with 12 heads on it about six months ago and only have 3 new ones as of now.

mine split in 2 months, just cut them up, its easy and iv never had one die

So basically get some singles, place them on a good size rock, wait until they grow additional mouths and split with a rasor?

Cut it, I cut mine and boy am I happy with it. I am going to cut up one of my ricordias tonight and I will be sure to take pictures of my progress for you.

Cut it right down the center,through the mouth, and invert it. The weight of it will pull the two halves apart. Have a rock underneath so the bottom half will have a place to attach. They will heal just fine. If you cut it and leave it flat, it will just heal into a larger single mushroom.
This is how I split mine. Anybody use another method?
