Started getting more serious in 1974, have been on and off with it since late 70s, sold fragged starts in San Diego area through the 80s.

Set up my first saltwater tank in 1975. Of course, you had a choice of a clown, or not. An Atlantic anemone or not. A blue damsel or domino. Starfish, morays, lion fish, etc. were available. Had a panther grouper for a while.

On the other hand, corals were dead.

Been at this off and on ever since, fresh and salt, air-driven under gravel filters to sumps. Finally getting into corals and aquaculture on a heavy basis, up until last year they were just "neat" to have with the fish. Now the fish are good to have to support the corals. Spent a number of years breeding freshwater fish and have now gotten heavily into breeding saltwater and coral propagation. The tank ratio keeps going more salt and less fresh every week. Now I'm thinking of unloading the last of my freshwater angel breeding so I can re-purpose the rack and tanks for breeding saltwater.

Sometimes I wish I was still back at that guppy breeding stage. Sure was a lot cheaper.

Had my first saltwater tank up when I was 13, took an intermission when I was 18. Almost ten years later I am back in it. I do not know if those years count though. I didn't have any coral. So for reef tank, one year. Saltwater altogether, about 6-7 years.

:lol2: .....I was just thinkin that. when I was 8 I went to St. Augustine and bought some bleached corals. put em in my tank with the neon tetras, guess that makes me a reefer for 28 years........:lolspin:
