U can keep tetras in salt? Just thought that was mollies

actually at the time it was a common practice to add 1 tbsp of sea salt per 5 gallons to a freshwater aquarium for all species. Now it is commonly practiced only for certain species ie. mollys for sure as well as cichlids, goldfish etc. At that time it was also common to boil the coral prior to adding it which is what I did. I never had any adverse effects in my freshwater aquariums adding the boiled coral nor did I for adding the tblsp's of sea salt. here's a link to some info for you mallorie :) http://www.yamatogreen.com/salt.htm

love the old and new pics.......pretty cool:thumbsup: would love to see some from others!

Its nice to see so many people with experience. I've been in a little over a year and have really received good ideas and help! Thanks to everyone.

Yes, lots of experience here which increases the chances of getting some knowledgeable feedback, and quickly I might add. Glad to have you aboard mate.

Mucho

In 1971 there were no other fish for sale except blue devils, dominoes and sargeant majors, thats what I had. Everything in that tank including the water was transfered into a 100 gallon tank which is still running. Some of those old dead coral skeletons are supporting my reef structure.

luisgo, thank you man, that picture from 1990 with you and the child is priceless.

Wow, 16 reefers with 20 plus years. That's what I call history.

Just wanted to thank all who voted. It paints a great picture for old and new to see here. I'm thinking of doing an on line interview of one the 20+ reefers for the zoa forum. Might be fun.

Thanks again, Mooch

Mucho, how're you going to let the poll close at 99 voters

I would fall under the 6-10 year bracket. (I think... might be 5 years)

Started with a 29 gallon FOWLR back in 1995. Got out of the "business" for a few years and now have a 125 gal mixed reef

I kept my first xenia rock in a 33 gallon long with 3 NO Flourecent bulbs in 1993. Upgraded to a 55 gallon LPS and 175 Metal Halide in 1995. It is amazing how far this hobby has progressed, with the basics staying much the same.
