i dunno guys...I know lot of peeps that can't keep them for extended period of time. A few months seem to be the norm.

1 1/2 years all 3 are still alive. Mine hide in holes alot but they do have a pecking order and prefer the small food that I add, cyclopeze , brine shrimp , ect

I have one going on just about 2 years. Started with 2 hoping for a pair but one ended up jumping shortly after aggression started a few months in. Honestly didn't know they were difficult to keep because mine has been pretty easy to care for. He is in a pretty lively mixed reef with cardinals, coral beauty, oscelaris pair, chromis and several gobies.

I think many people have difficulty keeping them because they are a timid fish that is highly susceptible to bullying. If you don't introduce them first and keep them with peaceful fish, they won't last.

I will have had mine (purple firefish) for 1 year in November.

I had a red firefish that died in about a month and I currently have a purple. I have had the purple for about 3 weeks now. He seems to be doing fine. The purple and 2 clowns are the only fish in the tank.
