How long it take a blue tang to out grow 20 gallon?

For a blue tang that is 1 inch long, how long will it takr for him to out grow a 20 gallon? Couple months? A year? Couple years?

Please read Reef Central's recommend tank size for tangs sticky which can be found here. Basically this fish grows to over a foot quickly and should never be considered for a 20 gallon tank.

simple advice - do not purchase until you have a MUCH bigger tank. Best of luck.

Mine went from the size of a quarter (literally) to over 4" in length in the last two years.

To answer your question I would say if it is fed correctly maybe 3 or 4 months.

I bought one that was about the size of a dime for my 150 Gallon and in less then a year it grew to about 6" and I removed it. Wait until you have a larger tank
