How long would a 4" regal or magestic last?

My LFS has had a majestic and a regal angel in there tanks for about 2 weeks now, both look awesome and in great health. The majestic is about 3 inches, and the regal is about 3.5-4 inches.

My tank is a 40 gallon breeder. I guess my question is how fast do these grow? Could I keep one for 6 months or so? Before its too big?

The regal is $75
The majestic is $100

Neither would be appropriate for a 40g breeder at their current size.

both of them are pretty slow growers, but 40g is way too small even for a 3" specimen. i have a 5" majestic and it looks "just ok" in my 225g. i'd say you need a minimum of 120g to grow a juvenile, and eventually a 180g for an adult.
