How many clowns in 80g tank?

I'm also a clown fish breeder & instead of putting the fish in my 10 gal. grow out tanks, I set up a 55 gal tank & stocked it with 326 , 1-3 month old fry. It's a bare bottom tank with macro algae ,uv,& 2 filters. I have not lost 1 fish since I stocked it on 4-11-09.

Reef, if you've kept 326 clowns in a 55-gallon tank for 5 months, you've lost something. I don't care how small they are, that many fish would necessitate some absolutely ridiculous skimming, live rock filtration, and water changes-I'm talking like 10% per DAY. I mean, think about it. A 5 to 7-month old angel is what, let's say half an inch long. That's over 160 inches of fish in a 55-gallon tank, all of which need feeding several times daily.

I have no skimmer & about 10 lbs of rock . I clean the filters weekly along with a 10 gal water change per week. I have been breeding clown fish for over 5 years now. At one time about 3 years ago, I had I batch of 260 ocellaris in a 10 gal tank plumbed into a main system. Over the coarse of 2 years, I lost about 20 fish. I now stock 50 per 10 gal. With 260, my only problem was SLOW GROTH! What do you think other breeders who do this for a living use?

Two half inch fishes do not have the same body mass as an one inch fish. If you were to weigh a clutch of youngsters, it is might be less than one adult Angel fish.
