How many hrs for sps keepers

So I took a break from my tank for about a year nothing died no algae just no growth really .. Long story short I got back into it and came back with a bang with sps .. Sps are doing good .. I'm happy no real complaints .. I just wanted to know how many hrs of light sps keepers have there tanks on .. A quick pic of tank would be cool and how many hrs and type of lights ...
Btw I have a 75 g 40b sump with LEDs

2 hours - 2 bulbs on
5 hours - 6 bulbs on
2 hours - 2 bulbs on

9 hours total for me!

(3 Trulumen pro 24" actinic LEDs)
10 hours 6 T5 (39 W each) plus the LEDs.

Total 12 hours.

Which if your corals are growing and have good color would be something you should stick with.

There are a lot of variables that affect photoperiod and there is no universal answer. In the 40+ years I've spent in this hobby I can tell you that less is often more. Color can be elusive and perhaps the easiest way to bleach an SPS is with too much light.

SPS like stability. If you decide to make changes make them small and stay with them long enough that you know for certain the effect.

I have it hook up to my apex with the gem for my LEDs and good thing I looked into it because the numbers were all mest up I only switch the sunrise sunset for my white for 1 hr at a time and not 1hr 30 min ..

I remember reading an article that coral can only utilize so much light each day before 'shutting down' energy production. Any light provided past this requirement is just wasted. This also depends on the intensity of the light from what I remember. Obviously, higher intensities require less hours.

I have my 400w radiums run for 7hrs a day and everything does well.

One of the nicest tanks I've ever seen ran their mid day MH's for 4 hours per day with 12 hours of LED strips and a couple T5's. That's what I'm currently doing and have done in the past.

How do you folks running 7-8 hrs feed your fish? Unless u have work <8hrs a day, wouldnt most fish be sleeping in the dark before you leave or after you come back.

In those cases light is on around noon or later and off after you are at home. Or in the other way .......whatever fit your "home hours".

There's enough ambient light in the mornings that they are up and feed at 6am, I'm off to work, lights on at 10:00/10:30, wife feeds them (after reminding her EVERYDAY) around noon, I'm home by 4p feeding them when I walk in, fed again before lights off at 6:00/6:30.

They get fed several times during a day on the weekends.

yes but that's only 1 feeding. I would guess most tanks require 2 feedings. Like alten78 said, we can depend on ambient light if there's a source. or leave room light on and wait around till fish wake up.

I turn my lights on at 8am, actinic led. full lights come on around 10 and off at 7pm. then 3 more hours of actinic led. I can do both feedings and get decent view time in the morning and night

I work 8am - 5pm, and my tank does not get much ambient light at all (sunlight whatever). So my tank lights run from 4pm - 12am so I see my tank all day.

I feed 4-5 times in that 8 hour span. Smaller meals, multiple times a day. All of my fish are super fat & happy.
