So my new guy seems to eat less in the morning... 2-4 Bites of Mysid, and at night he goes for around 5-8. Does this sound like enough food?

Im sure he i grazing all day of left over pieces... I put a whole Cube in. The snails also eat the Mysid...

Just Curious...

left over pieces, can have bacteria grow on them ... which can in turn infect your seahorse !

the chances of that lowers, if you do keep your seahorses at lower temps, but it is not eliminated. [unless temp is under 40 degrees F, FDA regulation for human food .... might be applicable here, but not sure. not that seahorses can be kept at that temp anyways. ]

so what I do, is I place a dish in their tank, turn all power heads off, and let them eat that, for half an hour and then I remove the dish, with all the left overs ! and turn pumps back on. I did have to train them to eat out of the dish though.

in my personal opinion, yes, its fine, as long as it doesnt get trapped somewhere and rot away ... which can increase bacteria in your tank and degrade your water quality ...

I have 2 peppermint in all my seahorse tanks, and also some snails ... they take good care of food that may fall out of the feeding dish ... before any seahorse can get to it lol
