How much live rock?

I am setting up a 29 gal FOWLR with 40lbs of live sand. I want to use half base rock and half live rock. About how much do I need to leave some room for friends?

probly need about 50lbs, if using base do 25 live 25 base, but order some more base just incase you want more, you may beable to get away with 30-35 if lightly stocked

Most people use 1 to 1 1/2 pounds of rock per gallon. It really depends on the type of rock you get and the density of the rock. Some is lighter and more porous than other so there is really no set size of the rock in the tank. Does hat make sense?

Yes, that helps allot. Thanks!! I am traveling up to VA tomorow to get the rock. Is a cooler ok for transport? Any tips guys??

Im not a pro. But i'm guessing a cooler should be fine, the rock will most likely be moist enough to travel. My guess is you wont be curing the rock in the cooler with water because it might get a little smelly.
I just ordered some rock from a website and it arrived in a foam cooler. So im guessing your cooler should work and protect the rock more than a foam cooler.
Anyways a cooler should be fine.

i traveled with my first batch of rock in a new cooler full of fresh salt water, works good , just make sure its new and rinse it out, old ones could have contaimanets
