How Much Skimmate Do You Get?

Calling all Tunze skimmer users!

What kind of skimmate do you get from your Tunze skimmer? I was curious to see what others are getting and what is considered normal.

I'll start

system: 130g
bioload: medium (6 fish, several small soft corals)
skimmer: DOC Comline 9010
skimmate: 100 mL weekly dark tea

I had a very similar size 120 at one point and typically got 250ml per week of probably a lighter tea skimmate. What I typically found was I got 75-100ml the first day and progressively less as the cup got dirty, which makes sense as the sludge on the cup neck reduces skimmer performance. Running wetter does reduce the sludge build up and cleaning more often also helps.

tunze 9410 on a 39 cad pro w/ 15 gal sump

4 fish
several inverts
15 sps/lps

around 300ml every week

system: ~100g net volume
bioload: heavy (10 fish, sps dominant mixed reef)
skimmer: 9010
skimmate: ~200 ml's dark tea in 3-4 days

Note: I just switched to the 9010 last week after running an I-Tech 200 with Tunze hydrofoamer for a year and a half. The I-Tech could pull 200 ml's of dark tea daily, but it didn't necessarily equate to a better tank. So I'm going back to what worked very successfully for me in the past. I used to use a 9010 on a 65g heavy bioload sps tank and would maybe get 100 ml in a week, but the success of the tank was excellent.

sorry for the late reply.

Yes, I cut a 1" thick circular section of coarse sponge and set it inside the sock. It greatly reduces the waterfall noise and splashing. I change my socks every three days and just rinse the sponge well in RO water each time. The skimmer takes about 15 minutes to recover back to normal production after that.

I do have some vibration noise from the rigid connection between the pump and body, but when I close my cabinet doors it is not noticeable. Sump is at 9 inches, so I run mine at 7 inches sitting on 2 inches of eggcrate. I use standard length 4 in x 200micron filtersocks in the tunze return and run my drain directly into the same return sock. Works for me

EDIT! Sorry for the double post below as I thought my first post didn't go up

Just noticed-OOPS!

Yes! I cut a 1 inch thick circular section of coarse sponge and place it over the sock. I use a standard length 200 micron sock and have my drain line in it as well. Stops the water fall noise and eliminates splashing. I just rinse it every three days when I change out my socks. Works for me!

Sorry for the bad pic but you get the idea.

Happy reefing
