How often do Colts split?

I have a colt coral, which has been doing really good lately- the branches have really been opening up and it is getting big. I just changed lights today to metal halides. I have another similar coral that drops branches all the time- literally like once a week- how long before my colt finally splits?

It's really based on how healthy the coral and water perameters are, toss in a little dose of mother nature and who knows, I've seen them split right away and some take months.
