I'm 58 do you think it is too late for me to learn??

So long as your in good enough shape health wise, no reason why not ;)

I got certified with my wife just before getting married in 1989(now 41 yrs old). Took our class/pool in Fremont, CA and did our ocean cert dives in Cozumel on the Palancar Reef. 6 days of two tank diving. What a way to get started.

I actually have a YMCA Open Water Cert. Are they still around???

53, certified in 1972 by LA Divers, they were practically the only agency around back then, still an excellent certification, still have my aluminum tank with a J valve, when your air runs out you pull the valve to give you a few more minutes of air.

diving for 36 years :D

So many dives I havn't been diving in over 18 years, it became work. my first dive was in a quarry 130' deep. was almost killed by a 5' catfish in the mud at 100' about 4' viability. What an adrenalin rush, wrestling a 80 lb + slimy gooey creature on your first Dive ever. Second Dive that day stayed at 30- 40' on a platform and was hooked. Went diving at this quarry a couple of dozen times then came to FL after high school to train to dive on oil rigs. Became certified Dive instructor, certified mixed gas tech, certified dive medic (yes they exist) dove just about everywhere possible in south Florida and the caribian. Most memorable dives are The Wall (Bahamas), Aruba several different locations unreal, any wreak dive something about wreaks that always is good, and my most favorite type is a current dive in about 3-4 knots feels like flying. I regret losing my Dive logs I had a bunch of them last count was over 5000 hours under water, many on a hooka rig. I'm starting to get back in shape to get back in the water with my youngest son, and I've realized I've forgotten a whole lot from lack of use. After I lose another 50 lbs we will take lessons together, things have changed and always want to keep up to date. in closing, the ocean tried to kill me at east six times, when I was young and stupid, going out when we shouldn't have, diving in currents in low viability, sinking three boats that had no business on the water let alone 5 miles off shore. So all you young divers or new divers be for warned, man was not meant to be in the ocean, he is but an unwanted guest in a somewhat unpredictable hostile but incredibly beautiful garden. Error on the side of caution to dive another day. By the way never dove on an oil rig switched to Ocean engineering school at FAU. wouldn't trade my younger years in the water for anybody else's Life.

33 years old. Certified Last Summer. Finishing my Advanced cert this month. Rescue/EFR next month and Divemaster before Summer. Already Nitrox certified and geting drysuit certified when I do the Advanced class dives.

Andrea ?? Padi since 5/07 10 logged dives
Devon 12 Padi since 3/07 10 logged dives

Our first (and only) trip so far has been to Cozumel in July 07. I can't wait to get into the water again. Chicago winters stink! Planning on doing some local diving this summer, and heading to Bonaire next winter.

I'm 42, 5 years PADI. Snorkeling forever. I prefer warm calm water. I live in California and have gone diving here, but it's too dang cold and I get seasick! I try to go to the Caribbean once a year for vacation and dive there - much more fun for me!

not certified YET

was able to do a discovery dive last summer while in Tanzania africa just off Changuu island, google it for more info.

I will be getting my cert this year, I really wished I had got my cert while I was in the navy, never had time. Could have done hawaii, guam, philipines, bali and a bunch more.

Iam 45 & been certified since I was 21.....WOW....thats 24 years, Man.... time flies......
