I remember seeing a thread in here where the longest known living clownfish was over 30 years.
How old is "old"

Well, it's official. Not that Guinness book will recognize it. My clown is more than 25 years old. I set up the tank when my son was born. New baby, still like the wife ... Home a lot. So my son just had his 25th birthday.
She (Marilyn / was Marlin) healthy and happy, and lays an egg next every lunar cycle.
Never did I think, when I was 35 setting up a marine tank (not the first time) I'd still be dealing with this fish at the age of 61.

That's very true. I wish my dogs could live as long.
Quite remarkable. Both that the fish has been that long-lived and that you have persisted continuously for 25 years. Well done! I have had a number of fish make it past 10 years, but moving has conspired to move them on. Building a tank is the most interesting part for me, so I tend to rehome fish when I move.

Let's put things into perspective...I am almost 40 years old. I have a Pit Bull named Tuffy that I've owned since 1998. This is a 74 pound oxygen breathing air conditioned house living, doesn't have to worry about ich or parasites, mammal. Hes lived the best life he can possibly live, and is VERY old for his breed. He sleeps all day and limps everywhere he goes, but is happy about life....
He is on his last leg, and younger than this less than 6 inch fish that has been exposed to different environments and fish completely under it's owners choices and other fish's attitudes, etc...
Hats off to this fish and it's owner!!! I know I get tired of keeping up with my tanks, but do it for the love of the hobby. You and PaulB are an inspiration. Keep doing what you do. It makes a difference.

25 years is a great accomplishment, considering what can all go wrong in that amount of time.
I had a pair of ocellaris for over 21 years until a stuck heater cooked them while I was out of town. The same accident also killed a 10 year old marine betta that I had raised from an egg.
One of the main reasons why I have now my tank controlled by an APEX.
I think many reef fish can get pretty old in captivity if kept under good enough conditions. In that regard it is pretty sad how short most fish live in captivity.

Please show us more pictures of her and her home when you can. I just turned 31 today. Imagining what I was doing when I was 6 years old really puts your dedication into perspective.
