How this Geezer did it in the beginning

Boating was great, it was 93 degrees so we had to spend most of the time floating behind the boat but that is what boating is for. The dingy got loose and I had to swim 1/4 mile for it but someone towed me back. We went out this morning for a while for breakfast on the boat and now is time for the birthday party. I am going out Mon and wed for clams on the half shell in a new place I found in the Bronx. They have a dock and a dozen clams are six bucks which is a third what anyone else charges.
Have a great day.

John, she thanks you. It does seem like yesterday and in 5 months her brother or sister is due to arrive.

Happy Birthday to the super-cute Amphipod!

Enjoy the day, Paul! Giver her an extra hug for all of us! (not that you are shy with the hugs and love for the kid)

Just got back from Sunday dinner with my granddaughter, it's the best!

Yes it is, I just left her and I can't wait to see her again. Soon she will be out on the boat again, and she loves the boat. (I think) In a year or so she will be amphipod hunting with me like my Daughter used to do. I am waiting for a time when she understands and I can teach her what is in the water with her. In that tide pool there are amphipods, shrimp, eels and all sorts of crabs and fish. It will be exciting to see the expression on her face when she sees these creatures for the first time.

I went to my boat today to clean because we had so much company on it for most of the weekend. Yesterday we had to go to a funeral for a cousin of mine who just passed away, it was 140 miles away upstate NY. It was in farm country and I am lost in farm country as many of the roads go on forever and are not all marked. So we were on the highway and we are using the GPS. The girl was telling me to turn here or there then I did not hear her for a long time. My wife opened her eyes and asked where we were.
Me being a city boy had no idea, we just kept passing silo's and cows and after a while, they start to look the same. My wife realized the GPS wasn't working because the arrival time had already passed and we were no where near a funeral. So we found a gas station and of course the attendant also had no idea where we, or he was at. So a truck came in and I asked the driver how to get to this town. Of course we passed it 15 miles ago and had to go back. But we got there just before the funeral procession started to the church.
After the church, we went to a military cemetery because my cousin was a Vet.
It was about 95 degrees and Veteran Cemetaries are not big on trees so we stood in the sun for another service and the Military honors of folding the flag and giving it to the widow. I felt bad for the older people there as it was very hot.

Anyway I got home from cleaning the boat a while ago as it got hot. My wife came home a little while ago and said "why don't I put on the air conditioner, It's 95 degrees out today"
I told her I put the air conditioner on for 2 hours before, and it was still 95 degrees outside, so I shut it off. :D

Sounds like a refresher in landnav is in order......:lolspin: glad your cousin received his honors as a vet. PS. Thanks for proving men do stop and ask for directions.

I always stop to ask directions, especially if there is a Babe there that I can ask. That was not the case yesterday but the cows were not in a talking mood although they were not lost.
I tried using the GPS in my smart phone but it is a lot smarter than I am and I couldn't figure it out.

Good one...how is the tank doing?

The tank is doing fine, it takes care of itself and I don't have to do much to it. But the algae is growing on the glass faster than normal but it has been near 100 degrees here for a few days so the tank is a little warmer than usual. The 2 pistol shrimp are digging up the entire gravel bed and the aquascape looks like a construction project but they like it like that. I can see my Under Gravel filter in spots. It stil looks the same as when I installed it. There are about 25 fish in there and most of them are still spawning, the rest, I am not sure what they are doing now that Oprah Winfrey is no longer on TV.
I assume they are watching "Tanked"

YOU KNOW YOU ARE LIVING IN 2013 when...

1. You accidentally
enter your PIN on the microwave.

2. You haven't
played solitaire with real cards in years.

3. You have a list of 15 phone numbers to reach your family of three.

4. You e-mail the person who works at the desk next to you.

5. Your reason for not staying in touch with friends and family is that they
don't have e-mail addresses.

6. You pull up in your own driveway and use your cell phone to see if anyone is home to help you carry in the groceries...

7. Every commercial on television has a web site at the bottom of the screen

8. Leaving the house without your cell phone, which you didn't even have the first 20 or 30 (or 60) years of your life, is now a cause for panic and you turn around to go and get it

10. You get up in the morning and go on line before getting your coffee

11. You start tilting your head sideways to smile. : )

12 You're reading this and nodding and laughing.

13. Even worse, you know exactly to whom you are going to forward this message.

14. You are too busy
to notice there was no #9 on this list.

15. You actually scrolled back up to check that there wasn't a #9 on this list .

Sad reality of the times. Kids in the next 10 years are going to be so lacking in social skills since they use computers and texting for all communication. I wonder if we will lose the ability to speak in the distant future and grow multiple thumbs to text at a more efficient rate?

Wow the tank looks great. If you don't have too many agressive fish have you thought about a sea hair to keep the glass rocks and sand free of algae? I have one and he is a trip to watch roam around the tank. I would put Natgeo on for them so they can be reminded how lucky they have it in your tank vs the open ocean. Or reruns of old Johnny Carson skits for laughter. My favorite is the lie detector one. I would be careful with allowing them to watch tanked as they may be asking for an upgrade soon.:lolspin:

I would let them watch Johnny Carson but I can't get the remote from them. A sea hare would starve to death in my tank as there is unfortunately no algae at all in there except a slight brown coat on the glass that is probably not even algae. I have had sea hares when there was algae, very cool looking creatures. One of them reminded me of a girl I used to date. I don't have any agressive fish, most of them are Sissies and just pick on fish smaller then themselves. I was thinking of taking some of my fish with me the next time I go on my boat. I think they would like the vacation and I may let a few of them swim around the boat. I am sure they would complain about the temperature as you just can't please some fish. :smokin:
