I know that you are going to call me crazy but I have a white monti with white polyps. Not running a low nutrient system and the monti has looked this way since I traded for it over a year ago.
I thought it was a tcn starbright but I am second guessing it now.

I have tried super glue, coral grows right on it, but so far superglue on top of coral has worked the best.
ppl who purchase these ? was hoping they could come here to get their answer ... and yes, they are aware that mother nature does not make corals which look like a flag or a shape ...
anyways, seems like I am not the only ............... [ I will let all ppl who replied fill this out] that is doing this .....

There is a big difference......he wanted them to grow together. You want to kill parts and keep them seperated. Also he was not trying to make a design or shape and you are.

Lol. Allmost, it's your corals grow them how ever you want. I have no answers for you though on how to stop them from growing together. I would love to see a pic though. PM a pic to me if you don't want to post one here.
