How to conceal your over flow box with a Magnifica anemone! (with video)

If your BTA has to be that up high to get light and flow then your tank conditions are subpar for the mag as evidenced by its current shape.

C.A. - I have a second BTA on the sand bed doing just fine....I can't move the Mag as its foot is 'glued' to the overflow. Sometimes you just gotta let them do what they want to do!

I will post a 5 minute video soon.

Thanks

MM

Not a good idea. The anemone will block the overflow and you will have flood, or a torn anemone.
You should arrange and give the Magnifica anemone enough light, and current so it does not go walking. Down the overflow is a death trap. If it go over the overflow box it will plug up the drain pipe and then disaster.

N.B - THE OVERFLOW IS COVERED WITH FISH NETTING AND ZIP TIES, IT CAN'T GET SUCKED IN AND HASN'T CAUSED ANY BLOCKAGES. I have moved the nem now simply because it's vert stance was annoying me and the clowns weren't appreciating his placement either. I have place him up top, in flow and in pulsing flow, I even purchased a piece of smooth flat live rock for it to sit on (as they seem to like smooth surfaces) and everything - GUESS WHAT??? It doesn't matter what you do for Mag's THEY GO WHERE THEY WANT TO GO. People say they need lots of light and flow etc. Well you can give them all that and still they may end up on the sand in a corner and then start walking up the glass again. RANT OVER. I will update with new pics and video....God only knows where he has gotten to today.......

Many of us keep Magnifica for a long time.
OverFLOW are for water flow. Having a huge animal on it will obstruct it to certain degree. Large enough anemone and it will obstruct it completely. Partial obstruction will change water level in tank and in sump. Depends on how you have top off, and how our skimmer level setting in relation to the sump level, this may or may not cause problem. Complete obstruction will cause problem.
Does not matter how you screen your over flow, if there is enough obstruction, the anemone will tear.

It is possible that you don't see what we point out. If this is the case, it is too bad. As human, we don't always have to learn first hand. You may have to learn first hand and that will cost you at least this anemone, possible your whole tank.

Mags are not known to walk.

But they will walk if conditions are not ideal.

Looks like you may have enough flow but maybe not enough light?

Tank specifics?
