How to cool halides

Is there a way to keep the temp down with Metal Halides w/o a chiller and 50 dollar fans. I saw computer fans but they all need special plugs. Any advice would be appreciated.

I have my lights 12 inches from the water and 2 fans, one pulls and the other pushes. No heat problems here.

Not sure about 50 dollar fans, but I have a couple 7 dollar clip-on fans that work wonders!!

A fan blowing across the surface of the water helps greatly.

I'm not sure which fans are $50 but I use a $10 window fan (one of those with the two 6" fans or whatever they are) sitting on the back rim of the tank and it keeps my pendant cool enough that after several hours of running I can comfortably hold my hand on the top of the fixture.

Ok. The 50 dollar fans I was talking about were on petsolutions. They were Icecap Fans or something. where did you get your fans?

Newark.com has fans for $10.00, get the clips for electrical connection, so you do not have to soder the wires to the terminals.

3 $10 clip on fans, one on the tank, two on the sump.

I have the clip on fans from Wally world they're like 8" or something... and they go on the timer with the halides... I have another blowing across the ballasts....

The fans might not be needed, for that matter. I have two MH pendants in use, and neither tank needs a fan.
