How to euthanise gorilla crab?

I finally caught a Gorilla crab that has been evading me for ages, but its currently 2.50am so I cant take it to a LFS. What is the best way to euthanise? Would RO water or a coral rx dip do the trick? Ive used clove oil with fish but I dont have any at the moment.

I have yet to find any creature that I don't want in my tank that a local club member would not gladly take off my hands

It may be a stone crab but I don't think it a gorilla. I have squished about 59 gorilla crabs & haven't felt bad about doing it. It is way easier to squish them then to catch them in a trap when u have as many as I did. I still have a couple that I need to get out.
 
Euthanize: to kill humanely. I wonder if the animals feel they were humanely killed? Or does the word make us feel better about the killing? If you gonna kill, just do it.

Hell I would throw him in the toilet and flush. If the fresh water didn't kill him, the grinder pump in my septic tank would. It's a crab for christ sake, there are another billion more where that one came from, and will be another billion more when they spawn again.

It kills me all the people who want to humanely euthanize a crab. roflmao We are as a race the apex predators on the planet, were designed to kill to survive, and to be quite efficient at it. Quit being pansies and man up and do what were designed to do. No one thinks twice about killing a spider or an ant, same principal.

Just because its smaller and less intelligent you think that gives you the right to murder as you see fit? And the fact there are billions of them is meaningless, there are billions of humans in the world, with your logic it'd be fine to bump off some of those too.

If I find a spider in my house it is captured and taken outside, if I find a bumblebee struggling on the floor I mix up some sugar water and let it drink it until it regains its strength. Unlike you I feel compassion for even the smallest of creatures, and I certainly wont let you make me feel bad about that (quite the opposite actually).

I wonder how much higher you would score in a psychopath test compared to me?

In any case I kept the crab in a jug overnight (inside the tank) and took it to the LFS this morning. They were happy to take it and put it in their sump.
 
I'm an apex predator, I don't feel bad for killing a life form much lower then me. It's called nature and has been going on for thousands of years. I'm also a hunter and enjoy the sport for food. If that makes me a psychopath, well I guess I'm a psychopath. roflmao.

People like you are the reason the earth is being overpopulated.

And yes, killing a few thousand humans would help this planet immensely!

I do agree that the planet could do with a serious population reduction. Especially as the effects of a warming planet make it harder to sustain the current population. Luck for me that I won't be around long enough to see the human race get really ugly in 50 years. Oh, and I don't have any kids either. I hope yours enjoy the planet you leave behind.
 
When science find other intelligent beings in space, we'll worry about it then.

But back to the real world, I do have a moral compass which tells me that killing another human being is wrong, but killing another life form which is lower on the food chain does not bother me in the slightest. Specially something like a crab which people eat in the thousands of pounds every day.

To the op, speaking of food, you feel bad for smaller life forms, but I bet you'll go to the grocery store and buy hamburg or a steak, or even crab legs and not think twice about it. As long as your the one not doing the murdering your ok with it?

But we are derailing the original intent of this thread and I apologize. I did not mean to attack you personally with my previous comment, it just irks me to see people say they won't kill anything, but never think twice about eating food which had to be killed by someone.

No I don't have kids either, for the exact reasons I stated. Why would I want to add to an already grossly overpopulated planet for my own enjoyment or the driving urge as humans to procreate.

When I caught mine I just put it in the sump. He/She lived for a long time and it was kind of cool looking at him every once and a while.
 
Use a hammer. It will be fast and the crab will not feel anything. Make sure to blind fold the crab first so he doesn't see it coming. A firing squad would be another way to do it. That way nobody will know for sure if they are the ones who killed him.
