How to move a stuck carpet

I have a beautiful green carpet that has moved itself 1/2 way through a hole in the LR. It is sitting with half its body on one side and half on the other. The foot is partially out on the front side and I guess the rest is in the hole. It has sat there now for two weeks. The mouth is in the hole so I don't think it can eat. It very large so the flesh is too large to stuff through. It has swollen up a couple of times in a attempt to move through but has not succeeded. I have tried to gently manually move it through without any luck. The surface of the hole is quite rough so I don't want to force it and risk damage.

Is this one of those cat in a tree situations? Just leave it and eventually it will figure it out??? It looks bad in its present situation and I can't imagine that it is happy there either.

Any suggestions to encourage it move through the rest of the way??

If you aren't attempting to sell it, I would just leave it. And if it really wanted to move through the space, it could -- when it wants, my 20" red Haddoni can shrink down to darn near nothing.

Need to figure out why it moved there --
What size tank?
What lights?
What for flow?
How long have you had the anemone? (( I am going to assume that it is an S. Haddoni ))
How long has the tank been set up?
How deep is the sandbed?
What are your parameters? (( with numbers )).

It has moved around on this single piece of LR. It has a 1"+ inch hole running through the middle of the rock.

What size tank?

200g reef
What lights?

7' Solaris above the carpet across. T5 across the front of the tank

What for flow?
Two blue lines a 40 & 70 for circulation one for closed loop, one running into two sea swirls. Two MP40w vortechs . Tons of flow in my tank everywhere

I have had it for a couple of years I think. Not sure of the variety on this one It has 3/4 inch long fine tenticles and is bright lime green. It has a skunk clown living in it. When fully open it is bigger than a dinner plate

How long has the tank been set up?
2yrs
How deep is the sandbed?
SSB 2.5"in display tank. DSB X2 tubs in my sump.
What are your parameters? (( with numbers )).
Ca 390
dKH 9
Mg 1350
Ph 8.3

I have left it for atleast 2weeks and it does not want to or can't move.

So you think i should leave it alone. Even if it does not eat? It is not sticky anymore and it used to be very sticky to touch

Is possible, would like to see a picture of it -- if it is an S. Haddoni, that is a ton of flow for one, and could very well be the root cause of this.

I guess my prodding and poking yesterday convinced it that I wanted it to move. Woke up this morning and It pulled itself out of the hole. Of course it is on the wrong side of the rock! I just flipped it over and all is well

I found this picture of the same type. The light green anenome in this picture is the same as mine. Only mine is much larger.

" Sorry that link did not work"

If it moved because it didn't like the flow on the front side of the rock then it will most likely try to move again. You may want to fill in the hole so that it doesn't try to take the same path again...

Here is your picture -- the green one in this picture sort of looks like a Gig, but way too hard to tell for sure. Ideally would get a picture of yours to ID it.

Thanks. That is the picture I was trying to post. The light green one second from the bottom is the same as mine.

Had a look at the hole it squeezed through. 1.5" tall by3/4" wide. Amazing it would want to go through that considering its size.

I will try to post some pics from my tank.

Looks like a gig to me if im right thay do like to be on rocks with high flow.

Im sure Todd will help out with the ID better then me.

I thought I had replied -- sure I will see that I didn't hit "submit" when I get to work tomorrow. I have to concur, I believe that it is a Gig.
