FTS-I can't wait for the T-5 light fixture to arrive. Bulbs will be here next week.

Congrats, Rita. Looking good. Here is a link to a few of my pics.
Thanks Terry. Your thread on the sump/fuge was a great help, along with the skimmer suggestions.
Your system looks great~~all the hard work really pays off :)

I am also looking foward to your light. I want to see what a difference it will make. I think youll be very impresed. Talk to ya later...

Well, I am just sick. My Powder Blue Tang came down with ich yesterday. I really thought that with QT'ing him for 7 weeks (with no signs of ich) would be safe. I guess not.
He looked bad yesterday with spots all over. I dosed with Kick Ich and turned off the skimmer. He is eating like a pig still and I am using lots of garlic and selcon. No signs yet of any sickness with the other fish.

Today his spots seem flatter and faded and he seems to feel better. The reason I noticed that something wasn't 'right' with him is that I noticed him doing tight figure eights in the corner of the tank. Today he is more calm and swimming around and doesn't seem stressed out.

If this gets worse, I may have to tear down the tank and hypo all the fish and let the tank set fallow. Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!
First time in almost 3 years I have ever had to deal with ich. Yep, tangs are ich magnets :(

Sorry arbee, I know how you feel. I've never had a problem even with my powder blue until I added apparently a sick fish from the great Pet land...

Rita, I hope everything turns out ok with the PBT. I have a yellow watchmen goby that's acting weird. I feel your sorrow.

Micki,
Things are so so. I've been using the Kick Ich along with adding Garlic Extreme, Selcon, Vita Chem and some beta glucan to their food. All the fish are eating well.
The PBTang still has some spots that are showing up again today. I just put a new 18W Turbo Twist UV on this afternoon. The ich is in check but not going completely away.
I may start using some Aquazole, gel tek and focus and quit using the Kick Ich. Next treatment is on Friday.
The blood red cleaner shrimp has set up his station and I noticed the tangs stopping by. Though I've not seen any spots on the Yellow Tang

As far as the lighting, my hanging kit and all 14 T-5 bulbs are here, but still waiting for the Aquatinics fixture. That may be a blessing, since I'm not sure I need to add one more stressful thing to the tank right now.

Sorry to be just getting back here--our daughter was home on leave (Air Force) until this afternoon.
Hope all is going well with your tanks :)

Terry, I am sure it will. I just have to deal with the fact that I may have to take all the fish out and QT them in hypo. Not really wanting to do this since they have been so stressed as it is with a new tank and the move. But if I can't beat this, I will go that route.

How is your YWG doing? I hope he is ok. Mine is MIA since the first two days after transfer. He was out for a couple days, looking dejected (even more than his usual LOL) and then I find his buddy the pistol shrimp had escaped via the overflow box and was hanging out in one of the sump baffles. I tossed him back into the display and I am hoping they found one another. Trying to find their hang-out.
If the YWG is missing, it usually means he found his shrimp :)

Oh, I've been meaning to ask you--is it normal to have what looks to me like hair algae growing on the sides of the fuge? Should I add a turbo snail or a ph for water movement? I see pods eating it, but I would hate to see that stuff spread to the display :(

A small powerhead would help. I use a Powersweep 212. It works alright. A snail would be good also. I have a few nassarius, cerith snails in mine.
The YWG seems to be staying in the main part of the nano cube lately. I sure hope he is ok. Maybe he needs a friend. I hope everything turns out with your tank. I used to get so stressed out over this hobby. Now I just take it as a learning experience.

Tank looks great so far.I am tagging along to get some ideas.I am getting a 125 rr this weekend so keep this thread going.
Hi Wrenchead-Thanks for the compliment. Right now things are pretty tenuous with dealing with this ich.
Keep us posted on your progress, ok? If you start a thread, post it here so we can all join you in setting up your 125:)

Terry, I added a couple cerinths for the sandbed in the fuge along with a couple turbo's. I'll put them in the display if they eat too much algae.
As far as the YWG, did you move any rocks? Sometimes when their digs are disturbed, they will hang out until they make a new home.
Yes, get a pistol shrimp for him. When my pair used to live on the front corner of the 20L tank, I was amazed and delighted to watch their antics. The shrimp would act like a snowplow with the sand, digging their path and hole, and the goby would just hang out watching me watching them.
As far as stress, well-I was stressed for months after first setting up a reef tank. And that feeleing of stress is how I feel again with this new set up while dealing with the fish being sick.

As of tonight, the fish are all alive....but I am really doubting myself as far as the treatment I've followed so far. The ich is raging...the PBT is covered and the YT is also full of spots. The Royal Gramma has spots also.
The cleaner shrimp has fish lined up by his cave like cars at a carwash on the first day of spring.....he is busy.

I have two UV's running now--one 9 w and one 18w. I am taking the salinity down to about 1.021 to see if it helps with the fish breathing better.
They are all still eating well. I dosed another round of Kich Ich this afternoon (was due to treat tomorrow) and will double up on the dosage (every other day) to see if it helps. It doesn't seem to have affected any snails, corals or shrimp so far.

Ohhh, I'm sorry, it's looking pretty bad arbee. I've not heard good results with the reef safe ich treatment stuff. Take it from expeiance pull the fish and treat. It's a pain but...

Another thought. Do you only have one shrimp in there? If so, I would consider adding another 1-2 cleaner shrimp. I think thats what's saving my reef tank from disaster.
