How to Proceed Setting up a 125?

Great! Sounds like the house is coming along right well. Don't blame you for not wanting to drywall. I hate it too. I was amazed when we built our house while watching the drywallers do their thing. It's a tough and dirty job. Keep your son faaaaaaaaaar away from the sanding--he doesnt need to breathe that stuff especially since he is doing so well now. LOL
Keep us updated...I think about him and pray for all of you guys often.

Going to post more pics tomorrow. Had to FW dip my clams tonight...pinched mantle. And of course they dropped some pyramid snails too. Always somethin.....................

Oh yeah, I tell him to stay away for most of the work. Even sawing wood throws off so much saw dust. NO WAY do I want him near the drywallers! That stuff is nasty! He can go back next week when we aer ready to paint! :D Thanks for your thoughts and prayers, it's very much appreciated!

Pyramid snails on your clam??? It is always something!

Hey Rita, How are the corals doing. Hope they are good. The other pieces that we took the frags from are open and looking good already. Show us some pics.

Here ya go Terry. Everything is doing fine so far. Thanks so much!

So pretty-it has a green metallic shimmer in the blue/purple velvet.

The blue ric hanging out with the other rics.

Xenia, pumping away. That stuff is mesmerizing--like watching a lava lamp LOL

Zoas, most are all opened up. They are on the bottom for now, and I'll attach them to the pillar in a couple days.

Hi Terry,
I will take pics of the tank and some of the corals later on tonight or tomorrow.
All are doing great!

Steve, another RC member, came over last week with a bunch of neat SPS coral frags for me. I gave him the yellow tang so she is in a new home. I've got a couple QT's set up for some new fish I will be ordering after Thanksgiving. A powder blue, a sailfin tang, a cleaner gobie, a royal gramma and a foxface lo and some more inverts. All will be ordered small (from Petsolutions).

I pulled a few of the largest blue chromis out and put them in the QT tanks and may just leave the four small chromis with the new fish. The large ones seem to be getting pretty aggressive during feeding.
So my list of fish will be:
One false perc.
A yellow watchman goby
Lawnmower blenny
and the new fish.

How is your break down going?
Rita

OK, some updated pics of the Terry corals :)

Your tank looks great arbee!!! Is your overflow box the single tube overflow or the dual overflow? I need to get one for my 120 and I'm not sure witch one to get.

You say you have a Eheim 1262 for the return, have you had any noise issues comming from the overflow with that much flow?

Thanks crazywesc
I have the lifereef Single Prefilter Box. It's good for up to 700gph
Lifereef

As far as noise..not really anything noticable. But then, my sump/refugium is in another room, away from the tank.

Hi Mark,
Yes I have alot of updates but need to get in here and write them up.
You've seen pics of the tangs I added. I'll have to go into how I acclimated and qt'd them for this thread. Took a big huge risk again and so far it is working out.
Hopefully this weekend I'll post new pics and an updated vid.
Today I get a temp controller so will be getting that set up. Temps have been going crazy on the 125 and I hate that. Having trouble with heaters this winter for some reason.
New updates coming...

I am looking at the same size tank (RR) to be set up during the next year. I saw your lighting and was wondering what you would say about it after having it for a while. It seems like it is a lot of lighting for a tank that is only 18 inches in width and 22 deep. Any info on reasons for this choice, what bulbs you use, and so on.... would be appreciated.

Hey arbee

I really like that tower rock on the right side of your tank. Is that one rock or did you make it? If you made it how did you do it. I am putting a tank together and I would love to have something like that in there.

It is more than ample light for this tank. I do have clams and sps so it's great for that. When I upgrade to a larger tank, these will go with it which is why I went with this unit. I do have mushrooms that bleached a little and put them in another tank. Also, I put the brain , rics and frogspawn under arches to help shade them a little.
I have these lamps:
2 x 39W 6000K Midday Sun T5 HO Fluorescent by Giesemann
2 x 39W 12000K Aquablue Special T5 HO Fluorescent by ATI
6 x 39W Blue Plus T5 HO Fluorescent by ATI
2 x 39W 10000K AquaSun T5 HO Fluorescent by UV Lighting
2 x 39W Super Actinic T5 HO Fluorescent by UV Lighting
Hope this helps

I used the marco base rock to make the pillar on the left-using several pieces. I used fiberglass rods from taps platics .com, drilled the rock and placed the rods. Also used Aqua stick putty and some zipties.
I am hoping it's totally covered with zoas in a few more months.
