How to Proceed Setting up a 125?

Good Morning Token!
Glad my story gave you a chuckle. I found myself talking to the YWG this morning. She always comes out from under her rock when I go over to the tank. This morning her frown was even bigger than before. I didn't notice any sand piles so I'm sure they haven't teamed up yet.
I told her "Hey, I tried!".

I found these wierd looking fan worm like creatures all over my sump glass the other night. They are on the side of the tank where the skimmer is. Not on the fuge side. There are also alot of dead white worms all over the bottom of the tank between the baffles. Looks like these but no fan. Anyone know what these are? Could they be regular fan worms but with no tube (no sand to build one in that section of sump)?

Rita does that toadstool really look that purple? It's cool!
Micki--Yep! Under actinics :)
I took the pic this morning when the lights first came on.
It's a deep pink color, so with the blue lights, it looks purple.
I just took another pic with all the T-5 lights on:

Those are "good" worms; the fan is the indicator (the red and white stuff...). The white stuff is its calcerous tube. They are filter feeders. I always get confused between serpulid and sabellid worms; one has a calcerous tube and the other a soft tube.

Sadly, without a pic, its just a guessing game what the "dead" ones are...

Thanks Token, I was hoping they were 'good' worms.
I think the ones on the bottom of the fuge are just the same, only dead :)

Tested with new Salifert test kits.
PH-8.2
Salinity .025
dKH 14.4
Calc 495
Phosphates 0
Magnesium 1470ppm
Temp is 79*
Does these readings seem ok?

Hello Rita. How is the sump working out for you? Mine is great. Your tank is looking good. Keep up the good work.

Hi Terry, Thanks!
The sump for the 125? Work perfectly-thanks to your instructions!

I'm having trouble with microbubbles on the seahorse tank though. Trying to figure out what is causing it-something with my plumbing. Maybe the way I have the pipes from the overflow worked. There are lots of bubbles and they aren't dissipating before they go back from pump into display. It helps to use a filter sock, but then I don't get anything in the skimmer...and they are a pain to change all the time..and wash.

Just put in a new EuroReef skimmer on the horse tank today...so more bubbles LOL
Also purchased a new 40W UV for the big tank. And bought some 2 Part from twopartsolution.com to start dosing to get my alk and ca in good form for some sps.

Trying to figure out if I want to get an auto doser of some sort...maybe a LitemeterII.
But THAT will have to wait a couple months..my credit card has been taking a hit ---as usual
:eek1:
Sorry for the long post...but you asked LOLOL
Rita

I am looking for an auto doser system also. I want to go to the Caribbean next year, so I have to get this tank as automatic as possible.
My 30 gallon ato water lasts for 10 days. That should be good. I'm looking at auto feeders too. Not sure what works and what does not. I need my passport. I'm going to get that started this week. Happy reefing, Terry

Hello rita. How have you been? I think its update time with photos. I hope everything is good.

Hi Terry,
Doing well. Busy with my work so haven't had much time to keep up the thread.
I did make a video of the tank the other day though:
125 Gallon Tank Video
Everything is doing good. The few sps I have are growing. Having some problems with a couple stalks of candycane corals and also trouble with some wierd leafy algae in the tank. I think it's the new lights.
May have to find something to eat it after I find out what the heck kind of algae it is. My algae blenny and Yellow Tang are not interested in eating it.
Hope you are doing well :)
Rita

Looking nice,Thanks for the link how about a round down of the type of equipment and rock/sand added. Also what lighting are you using and the tpye of bulbs
Thanks

I had live rock from my other tanks-not sure of the weight--I'm thinking about 50 to 80#s of a mix of Marshall and Fiji and Tonga which is also in my sump. I did buy about 50 pounds of reeferocks which is a base rock.
Sand-
Aragamax Sand 30 lbs
Special Grade Reef Sand 80 lbs
20#'s of Tropic Eden Aragasnow in the Refugium.

The lights are T-5 and are 39W each times 14 bulbs in an Aquatinics fixture called the Constellation series. I can grow anything in this tank, clams and sps included (so I've been told)
I use an EuroReef RS 250 skimmer, Phosban reactor, and a 40W Gamma UV Sterilizer, Eheim 1262 pump for return. For flow, 2 Hydor Korolla 4's on each end of the tank along with a Maxijet 1200 with Hydro flow in the center of the tank in additionto the return flow from the sump.

Time to do a little updating on this thread. I've been lax this summer with keeping up on listing equipment, and livestock added.
My husband had a heart attack the end of Sept but we are now back in the swing of things ...thank goodness.

I added three clams from clamsdirect.com. Only ordered two crocea's and Barry added a farmed raised derasa for free:dance:

Hi Rita, I'm sorry to hear about your husband! I hope you are all getting along on now. The tank looks great!

Hi Micki,
Thanks~He is doing great. They did angioplasty and put in 2 stents in the right coronary artery. He is already back to work. Tuff to handle when he is only 53 but we dodged the bullet by getting to the hospital asap.
How is your son doing? Is the house done?
Rita

I'm glad to hear he is doing OK. Getting to the hospital ASAP is many times the key! My son is hanging in there! He still gets tired easily, but hopefully soon that will change. We are going to start drywalling TOMORROW!!! That's the one thing we hired out. I hate drywalling! We got an awesome bit on the job and couldn't say no! :) He should be able to move in next month for sure!!! :) And the timing is good with his health starting to improve!
