How to remove Zoas from rock?

Well I have a colony of "ring-o-fire" zoanthid on a small rocks and left it alone for a month. Now it's spreading to the rock next to it, I want to remove the colony to frag but I cant pull out the 2nd rock out since it's really big. How do I get the colony out? Gently pull the small rock until the colony is off of the 2nd rock?

For the most part... yes. Or be nice and cut with a razor between the rock. Just be safe!

cutting it in the tank wont cause a problem? Its a 7g and dont want them to release their poison and stuff..

what other coral do you have in there? Over all should not really cause to much of an issue. Post a pic of it first if you want more support on that before you cut.

If you cut the bottom of them off, will they not grow back at all?

They should be just fine after you cut them. No worries.

I use a scalpel. It's sharp enough to take a layer off of the rock under it.

i use a box cutter razor and slice a piece of the coraline / rock under it to completly remove them

i do the same as to cut a bit of rock underneath. never had great luck with the mat just coming off nice and neat.

I didn't get to cut it... and it grew 11 new heads since 1/15!
