How to rid a reef tank with Majano anenomes?

I found that the Manjos always let go of their hold the live rock when they are distressed. Last time I moved, I did a 50% water change, with all the discarded dirty water, I took the top rocks that were COVERED with 50+ manjos, and taking a stiff bristled brush I scrubbed the rock and ~75% of the manjos let go and ended up in the waste water. The only ones I wasn't able to get where the ones that were hold up in a deep pocket of rock. I still have manjos, but since the scrubbing, I've gotten rid of a lot of them. I think I'll try to rid the rest manually. If you find something that works really good, let this posting know.

I have a billion of these little buggers and don't want to break down my system. This is on the dangerous side. But I just picked up some muriatic acid:) I will keep you all posted.

I have been using a kalk injection, seem to be working ok. I Just have to keep up on the maint. of them every two weeks or so. Thanks for the input all.

"research Centropyge bicolor"- No need to- I have seen hundreds if not thousands of dead ones in the wholesale trade. This fish has prob the lowest capture to survival rate of any centropyge angel. The ones that live to get to a tank are difficult at best.

I used epoxy to burry them last couple of weeks and so far I am down to 2 of them in some hard to reach positions. Will take care of them soon. So far it has worked for me. Looks ugly with white epoxy all over by better than the little devils.

see my post above . . .electrocute them! Trust me . . . it werks!!!

Now, that's a new one. How about some details on exactly how the wire is hooked up. Do you use a switch? What is your kill rate? Great idea.

I saw a video of someone burning pests from rock that was removed from water. I wonder how much a small underwater torch would cost. Of course, if a 9V battery works that sounds like the way to go.

thermostat wire works good . . . attach to a dowel stick, Strip tip only about 1/8 inch. Insert into base of majano and have a friend make battery contact for 1-3 sec. Or you can install a switch on the dowel as i did. U can use a 12 or 9 v dc battery or for that matter any battery charger like a cellphone charger for larger jobs. I would only do 3 or so every few days. Now if u can remove a rock, then by all means do so and just scrap em off. But for the hard to reach . . . ELECTROCUTE!!!!

and . . . majanos are easy. For the more pesky standard apistasia, cram the wire (strip it slightly longer) down their spider nole and fire!

I started off with one in my overflow of all places. I figured it would stay in there. that was a stupid thought by all means. I found what I hope to be the same one on the other side of the tank a week or so later. I shot him with aptasia killer and figured he was done for. it took about a week for him to come back, and with a friend this time. I shot both of them with the aptasia killer 3 times each, each time with a full dose. 4 weeks later here is again.

Should I try to pull him off, and then put epoxy over the hole, or do they work like bees and just find a new hole?

no pic . . . mine is a sawed off golf club with a doorbell switch at the hand grip. I started off with a 12 v lantern battery, but switched to a 12v dc train transformer with an "throttle control' . . . gives me precise control!! I have a large tank and had maybe 100 to 200 of these bxxtards, so i did about 10 a day. thats been over 2 years ago. None since. Once i had a few brown apitasia. This is where u strip the wire a little longer and where the throttle control comes in!!As u get close to him he withdraws into the 'hole' and U know the rest

Hey, this is nothing more than freshman chemistry . . . electrolysis. A current between a cathode and anode. Do not use AC power! Theoretically the sacrificial anode (or cathode . . . whatever!) is the copper wire and thus a few molecule are deposited. After doing all of my problem, it sacrificed about 1/8 in of copper. I tested periodically and after . . . NADA!

Hey, lethal injection sucks. Electrons man!!

about 1/8 in gap, 1/8 stripped wire . . . too much and current will be lost . . . square of the distance or something like that!

They are curled up in death agony a few seconds later . . . it is not poison !

Salty, U gotta get with SeaskraP . . . he sounds like a natural born Killa!!!!!!

HA, yeah im a killer....a killer of these little bastards, and my own liver.
at this point, i'll try almost anything. broke down my whole tank to get rid of them, and they just pop up in the new system. willing to risk a little copper in the tank if the electricity will kill them. (could using steal wire prevent potential copper poisoning?) will try and get a pic of my killing machine when its ready.
thanks again for the idea quack.

most wire u buy is either copper or aluminum. Report back once the devastation begins!!!
