my friend is going to "babysit" my anemone in his 75 gal tank for a while until mine is established.... how to i get my anemone out of my tank ... it is attatched to one of my favorite pieces of live rock and i dont want to take it out because it is huge.. and i have some stars living in it... how do i get him out?? do i do it with my hands or net??

First trick is to get it to let go. Try pointing a powerhead at its base. Should irritate it enough to make it want to move and let go. Once it does release, put it in a bag with you water and transport. Acclimate it to your friends tank just like you did to yours. Hope that works.

2nd choice would be to use the tip of your finger to massage it off the rock. Very gently try to get the edge of the foot loose and peel rest off slowly.

Another idea too (although you said your rock was big) is to hang it upside down.

I just picked up a bta yesterday from a local reefer, and he told us that he took out the rock it was on, held the rock so the nem was upside down, and it didn't take long at all for it to release on its own. I assume that he caught it with his hands to place it in his sump until we picked it up.

I've been following some of your other threads and I think you're doing the right thing by letting your tank mature more. You found a solution that meets the needs of you and your nem.

Good luck!
