I hope this doesn't sound stupid but how do I know when my clowns have paired up??????
I'm asking because I just got 2 and they have not left eachothers side since I put them in the tank!!!!!

I would consider them paired. I view it like human relationships. Sometimes we pair up quickly, and sometimes not so quick. There's no real line in the sand that shows when they are paired and when the aren't. If they're hanging out together and not fighting, I'd call them a bonded pair. After they have spawned, I'd call them a mated pair.

If they are a mated pair one will be a lot larger than the other. Mine are fighting to find out who will be male and female now. Kind of crazy to watch. The do a twitching dance with each other.

Two immature clowns will always form a pair. They start out asexual and will battle for dominance, with the winner turning female and growing faster and larger.

My LFS had a tank of 50 or so of these. I got two and they have not left each other's side since they were in the tank.

Since my clowns are paired up would it cause a problem if I introduced a bulb anemone?

I think of them as paired when they lay their first nest :) Until then, they could just be buddies... and I know it sounds like I'm joking but clowns who are buddies with one another do not necessarily stay buddies when they become sexually mature.

I just got 2 clownfish one friday and one today. They have practically stayed together the whole time so I'm guessing they are paired!:) quick question how will I know when they are spawning or what does it look like lol?! Lol I'll post a pic if u want it! Thanks.

Now that´s a pair, if you add another clownfish, the new one will be in trouble! hehe unless the new is bigger than the pair

If one were to want to gat a pair, would it make sense to get a larger and smaller clown? I would think that the clear dominance relationship would keep the fighting down and maybe accelerate the process.

Any thoughts on this idea?
