how to use a ranco?

I am not sure on that unit but I suspect it will only run/control one device. I had one to run my chiller. You plug it in the wall outlet and plug the device you want to control into it. Program your desired temperature, drop the probe in the tank.

the guy said it will turn on a fan if the temp gets too low? but that seems iffy since its not in the description?

also where would one connect appliances?

The appliances plug into the two outlets hanging from the bottom of the wall pack. I guess you could program it to run fans but I don't think it will do heater at the same time. This is just a guess because I have never seen this unit and I am trying to read into the description.

but the outlets look like 2 round things not to plug in regular apliances?

i mean he said it can turn on a fan if the temp gets too hot, but thats true maybe not at the same time i have to ask....

Rather than try and get something cheaper, try getting the real thing as in the thread above. You want a two stage ranco controller.

i understand but a neptune system is like $100 more than that dual stage ranco...

and if that one can indeed controll both fans and heater its way better than the ranco. cuz it has alarms and timers

The world of controllers is a completely different world. If you are going to think about that world, there are a whole bunch more options such as RK2 and Aquatronica. If you are in it for the long haul, I would look at those two among others. I suggest Ranco because most people don't want to go into the controller world because expense mounts quickly.

yeah im probably going for the ranco since the neptuna and all those need the direct connect which is expensive plus the actual thing.

You will be pleased with Ranco. Easy to use and VERY reliable. I would never use a heater without one. By the way, although I have controllers (Aquatronica) I do not use them to CONTROL anything just for information display.
