Huge GHL CHILLING Announcement

No need for that man. Scroll down, there are two threads about this thing for a week or so already with prices and sizes and whatnot.

Ok, I'm looking but not finding some relevant data on the PTC-6:

#1 What minimum firmware is necessary to run a PTC 6?

#2 What should be the water flow-rate(s) through one?

#3 Can these be mounted vertically (on the side of a stand)?

Thanks,

James

1. 4.06
2. depends on size of tank
3.no must be horizontal

Notes on position - Unit MUST be in good air flow, NOT inside any cabinet small room or enclosed area.

The room they operate in must be at least 5 degrees cooler than the tank temperature required.

For better support on the unit please go to www.aquariumcomputer.com/forum

Thanks Micheal.

190 gallon system. There will also be 10 profilux controlled cooling fans blowing across the tank.

I wasn't going to put it inside the stand, rather mounted to the outside of the stand but since it must be horizontal I'l put it somewhere else.

James

wow you are pushing the limits of this unit on 190 gallons!

The unit is rated at 600L max you have 735.30L = 190 gallons

At this rating you are overdriving it by nearly 20% :eek1:

Thanks Micheal.

The way I figure it, this Glass Cages 190 rimless holds a lot less then 190 gallons.

The tank is 48"x36"x24" and those external dimensions equal the 190 gallons.

However the glass is 3/4" thick all the way around so that has to be subtracted.

Its not filled all the way to the top so that has to be subtracted.

It has reef ceramics, live rocks, sand, and 2 Streams and a Wavebox so that has to be subtracted.

Probably at least 25% or more of the 190 gallon rating on the tank is not water but I do have a 20 gallon sump however.

I'll report back after I get the PTC running. Worst case I'll just have to get another PTC 6( of course I would want to add to the system volume if I do that)!

James

The PTC6 works at optimum at 400L, it is like running a car at full throttle all the time, you do not get much effiency out of things run at max all the time.
