HUGE Mantis Shrimp

hey, i know this is an old news story but think about this, suppose you could get one of these from hawaii somehow, would it do okay considering a tank's water conditions are better than the canal water over there? also isn't this a Lysiosquillina maculata instead of Odontodactylus scyllarus like they said it is?

They aren't the easiest mantis to keep and hey really don't do anything. They are ambush predators that just sit in the opning of their burrow, so you will only see about 3" of a 12" specimine.
And yes it is at the least a Lysiosquillina species.

 

[Gonodactylus]

L. m are showing up in shipments from Bali. They are very tolerant of poor water conditions, but require a deep sand bed to burrow in. I currently have a pair (31 cm each) living in a 100 gal tank with a 16 inch sand bed.
