Hugo's sps tank

On the ph 84 forum (with bing translate), Hugo talks about his honey + milk dosing and tons of interesting stuff! Maybe he will share in English with us?!

Colors are awesome.

Love this tank. Wish it was mine. :D

I doubt its a translation error, I have browsed pH8.4 forum before and also saw mention of milk and honey. I have seen it during other random browsing etc.

I can see honey but milk? Maybe it's kalkwasser and it's being translated into milk? Wow I really want to hear more about it if that's the case.

Milk's got a lot of good stuff in it. Proteins, enzymes, vitamins... Even some carbs and a little bit of phosphate as in calcium phosphate...
In a low nutrient system, I could see this being beneficial..
I wouldn't dare add it to a nutrient rich system..
Very interesting..
The other site does have a lot of good photos and info.. But I hope Hugo will come back and give us a little more info!
Please! :)

Can't someone just link it to this thread? Interesting.

Great colours for real. Dare I say too good lol.

Great work. Jealous!

Hi guys,

Hugo is busy on getting married...at least that is what he told me....
I will try again warn him marriage is second most important thing, reef is number one, getting doctor degree is number three (oh, well, at least he already got his doctor degree after I push him many .... many times).... Hahaha

For specific topic of how he use honey and milk (yes, it is MILK, not a translate error), please check....

Hugo's tank is one of the best SPS tank in Taiwan, but he will tear down his tank soon and build a bigger one once his new house is settle.

Hope above help. I will inform him that he need to check RC more often....

what kind of MILK..evaporated,condensed,whole,skim? heh what would be in milk that would hurt a reef tank?

This is the most beautiful tank I've ever seen. Wow.

lol ..... I think i have marriage phobia recently.....
that means i can't get up at night to inspect tank status....:uzi:
I start keeping a reef tank for ten years, in retrospect , the reef tank
accompanied me to get through the worst days pursuing phd degree...

Cut the crap....
Thanks for the reply my friends, I really add real milk and honey,
and the NO3 & PO4 values are always around 20~50(before) & 0.05(usually)
i add milk 10cc per day, I stop adding honey about 3 months,
because I want to examine the effect of the milk
the milk can help coral growth fast including sps and lps,

The original purpose I add milk is increase the fatty acid for the tank to avoid sps skin peeling, compared to add the commercial products, is heterogeneous, often incongruous mixture of elements, i prefer to add milk,

but i add milk after alga disappear, and sps become the major creature,
or there will bring the disaster

By the way, the NO3 values is about 0.5~5 after start adding honey,
if you want to know more information, please let me know, thks!

Well, the more precisions you give us the best it will be!
Thanks.
