Bought a new de-humidifer today for the basement, has digital readout on what to set the humidity at & the current humidity in room, what would be a good setting for this time of the year? Keep in mind around 700 gal of water flowing thru my system. Readout is at 45% on startup.

anywhere between 40-60 percent is a pretty good rule of thumb. Since its higher now than winter...maybe set it in the 50s so it doesn't have to work too hard all the time? but for the 40-60....that is whats recommended by ASHRAE(a hvac group)

Kurt,

where did you put it in your fish room, or on the out side area?

Also How big of a unit did you get?

Its over by the pool table outside the room, if it was inside would suck water out of the tank i would think.

I have one in the basement set on 45 keeps the basement dry and i assume it will make the AC/heater unit last longer as well since it takes out the moisture and salt from the air.How do I know? Ok I was cleaning the filter the other day and noticed there was a thick white powdery substance on the filter so I took a lick of it and man was it salty. Although it is a little wonder there is so much salt in the air with a skimmer that constantly aerosoloizes(sp?) salt water.
