here is a crab that is supposed to be an emerald. I have had emeralds a lot but this one has me concerned he looks like a cross between an emerald and a gorilla. the hairy legs are of concern and the pointed claws yet his back and smooth claws suggest he is an emerald crab. I am moving everything into the 180 soon and I need to know if he should be fuged or if he is safe.he is almost the size of a silver dollar.

Emerald. The degree of hairiness varies with individuals just like in humans. In this case the hairs are coated with debris which makes them more conspicuous than usual.

Thank you Leslie. for some reason I was under the impression pointed claws bad rounded claws good or maybe I have it backwards. I have always kept emeralds in my reefs with no issues but this guy just stuck me as odd. again thanks for the confirmation

Reefers have 3 main sayings about crabs & like most generalities each has a lot of exceptions. so many, in fact, that I regard these "rules" as nonsense. :D
---- pointed claws bad, rounded claws good
---- black claws bad, any other color claws good
---- hairy crabs bad, smooth crabs good
