Hydor wavemakers. Opinions?

I'll be buying a Hydor wavemaker 2 for my 45g cube tank. It's 24"L, 24"H, 18"W. Plan is to set both on the back glass on either side surrounded or hidden atleast in the rockwork. So how do you guys feel about these ? Will it be to much for my tank and is this a quality unit?

Interested in opinions as well... my tank is 120g and considering 4x750gph units. Plan was to run full time - two on back facing forward, two on sides facing each other (roughly).

Are these units good? Target flow rates per tank gallons (or another measure)? Is a wave maker necessary?

Personally seen lots of ppl who have done what your planning to create swirls and waves. I personally want a wavemaker unit to have the effect to create more realistic and makes the coral bounce around. But bump to the main question to is the hydor wavemaker units a quality product ?

Just to be clear, are you talking about Hydors recent Smartwave? or their $200 wave maker?

I had a wavemaker 2 with K4's on my 110 gallon. It worked exactly as it should. The pumps were dead silent. I liked that I could control maximum as well as minimum flow rates. Combine with interval speed and you have a lot of options.

Just what I've been waiting to hear! I will be running 2 k2's in my cube. Can you change the setting to have each pump to run at different intervoles and speeds and such?

The wavemaker 2 was alternating only (one high, one low & vice versa), if I remember correctly. At least that's how I had mine set. With the photocell, both pumps were backed down to the minimum setting at night with no pulsing.

I currently run the wavemaker and two Koralia 6's and have not had any issues. Pumps and wave device are dead silent. I would absolutely recommend. I also run the photo cell, so pumps go into night mode when lights out.
