I have a nice b&w clarkii pair...Had them at 1.010 sg for about 10 days now.still see scratching on the gill cover or twitching once in a while..
will the hypo treatment be affective if they have gill flukes?
If so, how long should it take?
so far hypo has caused all the ich to drop off,so it's not a total waste of time.

thanx in advance for any insight....

ich drops off after a couple of days any how, it may reappear, I prefer 1.008 the fish can take it.
if they are still flicking it could be marine velvet, for which, hypo wont work.

In my experience the black and white, wc clarks are extremly finicky fish, prone to lots of problems.

good luck.

you could try a fresh water dip (FWD), match the ph and temp to the tank they're in now before you dip. 7-8 minutes.

i've heard alk and ph fluctuate more with lower salinities, not sure if that's fact or myth.

where are they now?

pics would help people diagnose...

good luck,
tim

I have used hypo and seen the ich return when I began to raise the salinity. I prefer copper for ich. it works on Amyloodinium(aka velvet )also. For flukes you can do a formalin dip in normal salinity tank water or treat your qt with prazi pro.
